CROSS BIKES: Vigorously Versatile
|
The forefather of our current CROSS BIKE series was invented 25 years ago: In 1984, CENTURION introduced the famous ACCORDO GT at IFMA (Cologne, Germany) – and therefore the role model for all following trekking bikes. This model was specifically designed to fill the gap between sturdy off-road MTBs and tenuous road racers for paved surfaces.
So CENTURION combined the best of both worlds. The ACCORDO’s lightweight 28” wheelset with comparatively slim 35 mm tires and its diamond-shaped frame both reminded of a road racer or a genuine cross-country bike. At the same time, all other components – such as cantilever brakes, flat handlebars and triple chainrings – originated from the MTB. Those top-notch components were absolutely unrivalled back then.
Today’s ACCORDO is named CROSS LINE. With respect to versatility, this may be the most flexible CENTURION series. These models are suitable for training purposes on and off the road unless the terrain is not too rough. In addition they can be equipped with mudguards and racks to tackle all kind of tours or travels – and of course all small and big errands of everyday life.
Our CROSS LINE bikes generally feature suspension forks. However, their RIGID versions with rigid forks delight all purists and riders favouring maximum weight reduction. There is also the option to order CROSS LINEs meeting all official road traffic regulations through lighting, mudguards and rack.
Simultaneously, customers preferring individual solutions always have the possibility to compose or complete their personal CROSS LINE by our modular construction system.
